Pope Appoints Father Masondole as new Bishop of Bunda

Pope Francis has appointed Father Simon Chibuga Masondole as new Bishop of Bunda Diocese in north and west Tanzania around Lake Victoria.

His appointment comes after the Bunda Diocese fell vacant following the appointment of its former Bishop, Rev. Renatus Nkwande, by Pope Francis, as the Archbishop of Mwanza Archdiocese, on February 11, 2019 and installed on May 12, 2019.

Bishop-elect Masondole, becomes the second bishop to lead Bunda Diocese which was established by Pope Francis in 2010.

Commenting on his appointment, Bishop-elect Masondole said despite receiving the news with great surprise, he thanked God for the call of being a Christian, priest and bishop.

Segerea Senior Seminary is a Regional Theological Seminary, located in Dar es salaam Tanzania, about 14 kilometers South-West of the City centre. For more precision, it is about 3 kilometers North-West of the Dar es Salaam International Airport. This Seminary was opened in 1979. The four pillars of the formation of the seminary are:- Human, Intellectual, Spiritual and Pastoral formation. In regard human formation, the Seminarians are trained to develop human qualities such as Sincerity, constant love of justice, fidelity to one’s promises, courtesy in deed, modesty, and charity.
